Cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable adopts the method of peroxide cross-linking to change the polyethylene molecule from a linear molecular structure to a three-dimensional mesh structure, from a thermoplastic material to a thermosetting material, and the working temperature is increased from 70°C to 90°C, which significantly improves the current carrying capacity of the cable. Cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable has the following advantages:
XLPE with a mesh three-dimensional structure has excellent heat resistance. It will not decompose or carbonize below 300°C, the long-term working temperature can reach 90°C, and the thermal life can reach 40 years.
XLPE maintains the original good insulation properties of PE, and the insulation resistance is further increased. Its dielectric loss tangent is very small and is not greatly affected by temperature.
Due to the establishment of new chemical bonds between macromolecules, the hardness, stiffness, wear resistance and impact resistance of XLPE are improved, thus making up for the disadvantage of PE being easily cracked by environmental stress.
XLPE has strong acid, alkali and oil resistance, and its combustion products are mainly water and carbon dioxide, which has less harm to the environment and meets the requirements of modern fire safety.
Cross-linked polyethylene insulated cables are suitable for distribution networks, industrial devices or other fields requiring large-capacity electricity consumption, and are used for fixed laying on power transmission and distribution lines with AC 50Hz and rated voltage of 6kV~35kV.
